VIVALUXURY FOR REDValentino

Though I am certainly a little sad that summer is over, there are a few things getting me extremely excited about fall/winter season! For starters, I am very honored to partner with REDValentino, one of my favorite brands of all time, to celebrate the launch and debut of REDLife, their cool new online eMag! As part of our collaboration, I got to choose and style a few favorite pieces from their latest collection to show you guys how I like to mix different prints and patterns and dress down some of the fancier pieces for daytime.

If you read my blog on regular basis, you know how obsessed I am with special details and bright colors, and the latest REDValentino collection had both in abundance and more. Fun, flirty dresses, beautiful prints and rich colors, are just some of the reasons I fell in love with the fall/winter collection. And so, as you can imagine, choosing favorites was not an easy task indeed. I mean, how do you choose a favorite if you happen to love it all?:) After some consideration, I went with a gorgeous striped tulle/point d’esprit circus embroidered dress, embellished sweatshirt, sparkly tulle skirt and platform sandals. Reason why I went with these particular pieces is that aside from being absolutely beautiful, they are also versatile and can be mixed and matched, worn together or separately and of course can be dressed up or down depending on occasion.

Take the tulle/point d’esprit circus embroidered dress for example, though it is certainly a stunning cocktail dress, it works just as well for daytime paired together with some edgy shades and chunky platforms. Of course if you're feeling particularly adventurous, which I personally always do, you can also layer with a cute sweatshirt to play down the sparkle a bit. I went with REDValentino embellished sweatshirt in circus print. Though I am pairing two different prints, reason why this combination works is because the base colors compliment each other and pops of red, black and soft sage, found in both prints, tie them together to help ground this look.

I took a similar approach with my second look. The stunning sequin skirt is a dressy staple for me, perfect for dinner or cocktails. But I wanted to make it a bit more daytime appropriate, so I paired it with an oversized embellished sweatshirt, chunky heels and mirrored sunnies. The rule I generally follow when I mix two different patterns like print and sequin, is pairing colors, not patterns. The combination of deep and soft gray works beautifully together, and print paired with sequin creates a very rich, textured look that is both fun and flirty.

What about you guys, how do you feel about mixing different prints and patterns?
