emily henderson gets guesty

these images from emily henderson's blog of her guest room makeover are floating around, and i think they're definitely worth taking another look. i'm a fan of emily for sure - i love how accessible and on trend her designs are, without feeling too faddish.
blue green pink bedroom

this room is no exception - it's a great example of going with things you love, and creating a one-of-a-kind space that looks amazing, without getting too matchy-matchy.
green stripe wall

and i love the story of the wonky headboard. she tells that only after it returned from the upholsterer did she realize that the stretchy fabric she'd selected had no hopes of staying straight. i think it's the little quirks like this that help the piece tell a story. granted, if a client spent a ton of money on a fancy fabric, stretching and pulling wouldn't fly, but in this case, i think it's charming. you've got to be willing to roll with it when decorating gets tricky. taking it too seriously will only result in a room that's a little too put together.
lands end pillow

great trick with the paint - with clients, i'm always suggesting stripes, or other interesting features we can add to the room with paint. she's right... it can make all the difference in a design, especially with a tight budget. and we've got that fab palm pillow in our store, in case you need one of your own!
