my kitchen - a (little) updated

i haven't shared a lot of my house lately (for like... 3 years?) because the cobbler started spending her money on shoes on neglecting her house. i've sort of been of the opinion that if i can do it all out like i want to (new house), then why bother. it's the weirdest thing - i'll just tolerate all the ugly shit in my house until one day i stop, maybe mid-sentence, or mid-dorito, stare at the track lighting and think 'whoa. i could change that'.

so i did. i replaced the lighting in our kitchen with an inexpensive update from west elm, i finally switched the faucet out for a simple paired-down style from build.com, and above all, furthermore and so forth and most importantly, i traded out the monstrous dining room table for a seating area and i created a little dining nook for brian meares and me by the windows. and hosannah in the highest, we're actually using the room now like grown people. we eat at the table as if we had house-training, lording over our muddy backyard, and we sit on the sofa and chairs and conversate. things are really coming along for us.

of course i would not choose the red oak shelves again. and most of my books are paperbacks and there are 3, yes count them, 3 fifty shades of gray books and there may be a set of twilight novels. the sofa i could never figure out what to reupholster it in, so i just sharpied it and threw some paint on it, and major ruins things where he sees fit.   it's not perfect, but it'll make do until you decide to buy my house and i can move.  it's full of things i love.  it's a haphazard collection of stuff that was never intended to go together, and it's real life.
